Yeditepe University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department Announcements Regarding 2020-2021 Spring Term Education
Dear Students,
An important information was given by the Rectorate of Yeditepe University on the educational activities in our 2020-2021 Academic Year Spring semester, which we will start on February 18, 2021. You can access the statement in question from the link below.
The existence and importance of the nursing profession has been understood most at times such as disasters, wars and epidemics, when humanity is in the most difficult times and struggles for survival. Covid-19 Pandemic has been fought in our country as well as the whole world for about a year. As in every field, education, especially the applied health professions training programs, nursing education had a problem. Due to the pandemic, could not do clinical applied trainings sufficiently, laboratory and clinical applications, which were constantly postponed, were postponed to the next periods in an incremental manner. This situation has created a high level of anxiety and uneasiness on us and you, and has revealed the problems of term or year losses and the delay in graduation.
Now is the time to take action to solve our educational problems step by step and complete our deficiencies to gain your professional competencies.
In the 2020-2021 Spring Term, it is planned to continue our education activities in the Department of Nursing, in line with the recommendations of the Higher Education Institution and our University, in accordance with the decisions taken with the participation of all our teaching staff and you. The decisions taken regarding our educational activities are as follows;
- All theoretical courses will be conducted by distance education method. The Coadsys Exam program, which has been opened for use within our university as of the spring semester of 2021, will be used for conducting theoretical courses, monitoring course attendance and exam applications. After your course registration, the courses you enrolled in will appear on your Coadsys Exam page.
- Laboratory practices of the lessons will be carried out face-to-face by taking strict precautions, dividing the number of students into small groups, using the department laboratory and classrooms.
- Clinical applications will be carried out face to face in small groups by taking all kinds of precautions in the appropriate clinics of Yeditepe University Hospitals and Ministry of Health Hospitals.
- Students will be able to perform their clinical practices in their city or private health institutions with at least 100 beds.
- Planning will be made for students with critical health problems.
- For all of our students who will be in clinical practice, Infection Control Measures in Patient Care During Pandemic by Dr. Öğr. Sevim Şen. A detailed training will be given by Uzm. Hem. Sibel Afacan Karaman on Correct Use of Personal Protective Equipment. The training will be provided by distance learning method using Google Meet, and the participation of all our students is mandatory. You can access the training from the link below.
- Laboratory practices of NHS 102 Basic Principles and Practices in Nursing 1 and NHS 201 Basic Principles and Practices in Nursing 2 will be held face to face in the department laboratory. (The clinical application of the NHS 201 course will be held in the spring term).
- As you know, all internships planned for 2020-2021 fall semester (excluding NHS401 and NHS403 course internships in the 4th grade program) have been postponed to the spring semester. The applications of the courses that you could not do in the fall semester are included in your program of this semester. Some of the courses in the Spring semester have been withdrawn to the Fall semester, in this context, take this into consideration during your course registration period.
- It is necessary to have your HES code at the entrance and exit of our university and clinical application areas, therefore it is useful to prepare your HES codes.
- You must have your personal protective equipment with you when going to school, laboratories and clinics.
- How the exams will be conducted will be announced after the information and guidance given by the Council of Higher Education and our University.
- Student activities, student club activities, conferences, panels and meetings will be held online.
